This started out as a simple idea, which I drew with Paper 53 app on my ipad. Naturally, to translate a small digital drawing into 30 inch x 40 inch acrylic painting, is not as quick and easy. I used the initial concept only as a starting point, because for me every painting becomes a journey. For me I would be totally bored if I knew exactly how it would turn out. I always reserve the right to experiment and make lots of mistakes along the way. A big part of the creative process are the accidental happening and discoveries, which make it so much fun.
German born, but Canadian by nationality, Karin Zeller has been a resident of Melbourne, Australia since 1993. She is self taught artist, but has attended many courses , workshops and classes over the years. Starting out in 1990, creating custom pencil portraits, she honed her skills in realistic portraiture. However, Karin always had a love of colour, and became interested in watercolour. Not long after, and still a relative beginner, she was asked to teach a beginners watercolour class with the local Art Society, where she was a member.
