This painting was inspired by my love of all things colourful. As a child I loved watching Jaque Cousteau films about tropical fish. Another inspiration for my fish paintings was Paul Klee. I loved the painting of fish on a plate. While studying art, I was inspired by artists like Picasso, Dali and other abstract and surrealist painters. Fish are my favourite subjects of all, but I like to paint them in my own way.
German born, but Canadian by nationality, Karin Zeller has been a resident of Melbourne, Australia since 1993. She is self taught artist, but has attended many courses , workshops and classes over the years. Starting out in 1990, creating custom pencil portraits, she honed her skills in realistic portraiture. However, Karin always had a love of colour, and became interested in watercolour. Not long after, and still a relative beginner, she was asked to teach a beginners watercolour class with the local Art Society, where she was a member.
